A 1990 graduate of Mercer Law School, Judge Morgan worked in both the private sector and in prosecution. Following a short stint as a litigator in Florida, Morgan moved to the Cobb County Solicitor General’s Office, where he prosecuted misdemeanor criminal offenses from 1992-1997. Leaving prosecution, he went into private practice, focusing on general civil litigation, personal injury, contract disputes, and criminal law. His most recent affiliation was as a partner in the law firm of Gentry, Smith, Dettmering, Morgan, Schnatmeier, and Collins, LLP.
Before seeking a position as State Court Judge, Morgan served as a pro hac vice in State Court. Additionally, he was appointed as an Associate Judge in the City of Marietta, the City of Powder Springs, and the City of Woodstock. He also filled in as Judge pro tempore and as a Cobb County Juvenile Court judge monthly.
In January of 2016, Morgan announced his intention to pursue the seat of retiring Cobb County State Court Judge Irma Glover. Earning the humbling support of Cobb County, he was elected State Court Judge in July of 2016. It has been his honor to serve in this capacity since taking office on January 1, 2017.
